STEPHEN BERRY
Stephen was born in Newport and started playing the piano at the age of four years. He also learned to play the organ at an early age going on to be organist at Llanwern Church at the age of fourteen. His organ playing has flourished to the extent that he is now currently Organist and Choirmaster at St Matthew's Church in Newport.
Stephen holds a Bachelor of Education (Honours) Degree,
specialising in Music Education in Schools, for both orchestra and
choirs.
Stephen has slotted in easily with our Music Team and the Choristers,
He has now become a valued member of the choir
.
ACCOMPANIST
JOHN NICHOLSON
John joined the Choir as a Second Tenor, having moved from the Midlands and originating from Kent. John learnt the piano and church organ as a schoolboy and has been in demand for these services ever since.
During his spell in the Midlands he ran a dance band and has appeared alongside such names as Sid Lawrence, Joe Loss and Roy Castle. a more recent musical venture was with a Folk Trio, which produced two albums, tracks from which have been frequently played on radio.
Much to the delight of the Choir, John accepted the above post
in the latter part of 2001.
